Chatting with your coach

Tap Talk to your coach (or Ask your coach) above the tab bar, or Ask your coach in the + menu.

Sending messages

Type in the box (“What are we going to do next?”) and tap Send. Messages can be up to 500 characters. For longer thoughts, send a voice message or a brain dump.

While your coach is working you’ll see what it’s doing, like checking your plan or searching the web. Its reply then streams in.

If you leave a message half-written, it’s kept as a draft on this device.

Attachments

Tap + to add up to 4 attachments per message:

  • Camera or Library for photos, such as a meal, a screenshot of a workout or a progress photo
  • File for PDF or text documents up to 25 MB

Your coach can read what you send, but it can’t create images, charts or documents.

Voice messages

Tap the mic to record a voice message of up to 10 minutes. Tap the check to keep it, or the bin to throw it away. You can add a caption, then send it like any other message. Your recording is transcribed; tap Show more under it to read the transcript.

Your coach can reply with a voice message too, in the voice you’ve chosen.

Things you can do with a reply

When a reply has finished, you can:

  • rate it with thumbs up or thumbs down to help your coach learn what works for you
  • copy it
  • bookmark it to find later in Saved messages
  • share it as an image

Some replies have a line above them, like “Checked the research”. Tap it to see the steps your coach took and the web sources it used.

When your coach takes action

When your coach does something for you, like adding an activity, moving a session or setting a reminder, a short receipt appears in the chat, such as “Added · Evening walk · Thu”. Tap it to see the details.

Sessions

Some conversations are focused sessions, like a check-in, a workout debrief or planning a goal. The session’s name shows at the top. If you leave partway through a check-in or debrief, you’ll be asked whether to Keep open or End session. Sessions close on their own after an hour of inactivity.
